The Super Bowl is the final game in American Football that happens every year in February on a Sunday. The whole season builds up to the game so there is a lot of pressure on all the players. On Sunday, February 12, 2023 the 57th super bowl took place. The two teams that made it were the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles.
The game started with the Eagles getting the first touchdown, being run in by the quarterback, Jalen Hurts, and the kicker making the extra point. Only a few minutes later though, Travis Kelce caught one in the endzone to make it 6-7. The Kicker made the extra point too, bringing it up to 7-7 and that's how the score stayed until the next quarter.
Only a few seconds into the second quarter A.J. Brown caught a long pass in the endzone again putting the Eagles in the lead. As usual the extra point was good. But the happiness didn't last for long when the eagles quarterback, Jalen Hurts, fumbled the football and Nick Bolton of the Chiefs picked it up and ran it in for a touchdown. After the extra point the score was up to 14 all. However with 2:20 left in the half Jalen Hurts was given a chance to redeem himself when he saw a gap in the defense and slipped through for the touchdown. At the very end of the half the game took a terrible turn for the chiefs when their quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, was sacked and twisted his already injured ankle. He was seen limping off the field in immense pain. After that the Chiefs were forced to give up the ball and the Eagles marched the ball down the field and had just enough time to kick a field goal for three points. So the first half ended with the score being 24-14 Eagles on top.
The second half picked up right where they left off after a great performance from Rihanna at the Halftime Show. The next points didn't come for a while until the ball was handed off to Isiah Pacheco of the Chiefs and he ran it in for another touchdown. Patrick Mahomes seemed to be handling the pain well and pushing through. After that the Eagles got another field goal and the Chiefs scored another touchdown. This was a very exciting play because after that the Chiefs took their first lead of the game. It was one point but it was a lead and it gave their fans hope. This feeling was even further cemented when Skyy Moore got away from the defense completely and roped in yet another touchdown for the Chiefs. This made the score 35-27 Chiefs up with roughly nine minutes left in the game. But a lot can happen in nine minutes. Indeed the Eagles went on to score another touchdown and instead of going for the extra point, they tried a two point conversion to tie the game…… And they were successful, effectively tying the game at 35 all. But the chiefs still had one more trick up their sleeve. They whittled the time down to eight seconds so they could kick a field goal and the Eagles would have little to no chance of tying or winning the game. Their plan succeeded when they made the field goal leaving the Eagles with one last desperate attempt to save the game however they were not successful and the Chiefs won!
This was a very intense and crazy game considering the chiefs had many obstacles they had to overcome (like their quarterback being injured). But they did it and at the end of the day it was safe to say that Super Bowl Sunday lived up to all its wild expectations.
